  • packaging

Careful packing of your belongings is essential when moving to France to allow for tight packing and possible temporary storage. Take a look at our packing accessories to make your move easier. If you prefer, you can leave the packing to the professionals at Flyto.

  • route and customs clearance

Our Finland-France route runs from the port of Vuosaari in Helsinki to Travemünde in Germany. From Germany, we will continue by road with our own time-travel vehicle towards France. Our route may vary depending on the resourcing of other European loading and unloading operations.

As France is an EU Member State, no customs formalities are required.

  • taxation and insurance

The quoted price of Flyto's removal service always includes tax. If you move from Finland to France, the VAT rate is 24% and if you move from France to Finland, the VAT rate is 20%.

Our road transport insurance covers damage during road transport. However, road transport insurance will cover a maximum of 20€/kg. If you wish, you can obtain separate insurance through Flyto, calculated according to the value of your furniture.

tips for moving to France

Moving from Finland to France, the land of grapes and pastries, is surely a dream come true and an exciting adventure for every migrant. Before you feel the red wine of Bordeaux on your lips, it's a good idea to learn a little about the customs of the country and the protocol for those moving to France from abroad.

  • Traffic in France differs from Finnish culture in its faster pace and varying road condition/size. As a first-timer, we recommend you check the route before you drive so that you don't end up on narrow single-car village roads. Road markings in France are lettered A = toll motorway (when joining the A14, be prepared to loosen your purse strings as a km on this road costs €0.54), N = national highways (slower than motorways but free), D = minor roads (popular with cyclists, so be prepared for a queue of up to 20 cyclists).

  • The price of renting an apartment in France is very variable. In Paris, it is difficult to get a 3h+kitchen for less than €2500, but outside the city centre the price is halved. Students should check out Adele, one of the largest and longest-running in France with over 150 000 students.

  • You do not need a residence permit to move to France. A simple declaration to the digital and civil registers is sufficient, as well as a valid passport.

  • Access to essential healthcare is possible with a European Health Insurance Card in France. However, French residents are covered by compulsory health insurance, the treatments and medicines covered by which are determined at national level. France has a single national telephone exchange for all health care providers and all health insurance companies.
