what kind of country is Italy to live in?
Moving to Italy, in the cradle of quality pastas and breathtaking urban culture, opens up the possibility of an exciting adventure, and careful planning is key to making your transition smooth and starting a new life. Here's some general information about Italy and some tips for those moving to the country:
Italian cuisine is world famous for its delicious and varied dishes. It is known for its fresh ingredients, simple but high-quality flavours and traditional dishes, often deeply rooted in Italy's regional history. Antipasti, often made with air-dried ham, cheeses, marinated vegetables and olives, are often the starter in Italy. Main courses include pasta familiar to many Finns, such as Lasagne, Carbonara, Fettuccine Alfredo (Flatbreads (fettuccine) in a creamy cheese sauce of butter, cream and Parmesan cheese) and Penne all'Arrabbiata (Penne pasta in a fiery tomato sauce of garlic, olive oil, chilli and crushed tomatoes).
In Italy, traffic can be busy and sometimes challenging, especially in large cities. ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) areas are strictly controlled areas where access is restricted and driving is only allowed with special permission or under certain conditions. When driving in city centres, ZTL signs are worth watching out for, as many areas have automatic camera surveillance and a fine for driving without permission can be imposed. Historic centres in particular are the best places to cycle or walk because of the close surveillance.
The Italian tax system is complex and influenced by many factors, including personal income, wealth, business activity and other economic factors. Personal income tax rates vary according to income, which means that higher incomes are taxed at a higher rate. There are several tax brackets.
Income bracket (0 - 15 000 euro): tax rate: 23%,
Income bracket (EUR 15 001 - 28 000): tax rate: 27%
Income bracket (EUR 28 001 - 55 000): tax rate: 38%
